Step 1: Select Your Preferred Medical Specialist

You can find the panel listings for the various insurers below:

Step 2: Arrange Appointment with Your Selected Specialist

Below are the available methods for making appointments with your preferred specialist. Please remember to identify yourself as a Shield policyholder when seeking treatment from your preferred medical provider.

HSBC Life

You may call their 24-hour hotline at 6342 5292 or make an appointment directly with the selected specialist/clinic.

Income

Make appointment directly with the selected specialist/clinic.

Singlife

Make appointment online or directly with the selected specialist/clinic. You may also contact Singlife’s Shield Panel helpline at 1800 600 0066, assistance is available 24 hours daily.

Step 3: Pre-hospitalisation consultation/scans/tests

Make full payment for all bills and keep the finalised invoice.

Step 4: Apply for Pre-admission Assessment (PAL)/ Pre-authorisation/ Letter of Guarantee (LOG)

HSBC Life

  1. Request for LOG pre-authorisation at least 3 days before the procedure by calling HSBC Life Shield Panel Hotline at 6342 5292
  2. HSBC Life will assist you with the information and documents required
  3. Upon approval, your LOG  will be sent directly to the hospital – no action is needed from you


Income

Income does not provide pre-authorisation but can issue a Letter of Guarantee (LOG) to waive the hospitalisation deposit of up to $30,000 for a panel specialist or up to $10,000 for a non-panel specialist.

On the day of admission, simply inform the hospital admission officer that you wish to request an LOG, and they will assist in obtaining it on your behalf.

Singlife

  1. Before proceeding with your planned admission or treatment, your Singlife panel specialist will apply for a Pre-admission Assessment Letter (PAL) on your behalf. 
  2. You will receive the PAL around 2-3 days after Singlife receives the complete information from your panel specialist. 

Step 5: Hospitalisation/Day Surgery

The hospital/clinic will e-file the hospitalisation/day surgery claim with the insurance company for you. The insurance company will settle the covered portion of the bill directly with the hospital/clinic. The hospital/clinic will then send you the final bill and process any refunds to you if applicable.

Step 6: Post-hospitalisation consultation/scans/tests

Make full payment for all bills and keep the finalised invoice.

Step 7: Submit pre- and post-hospitalisation claims

HSBC Life
